American Pump & Drilling is a full-service pump systems and motor repair company proudly serving Eastern Idaho, Western Wyoming, and Southern Montana. For decades, we’ve provided reliable, high-quality solutions for water wells, pumps, motors, and control systems across residential, agricultural, municipal, commercial, and industrial applications.
The company was originally founded in 1989 by Nathan Hancock and family, who built American Pump on a foundation of hard work, honesty, and practical expertise. What began as a small, locally owned pump service provider quickly earned the trust of farmers, homeowners, and rural communities across the region.
In 2011, family members Jacob Hancock, Todd Hyde, and Russell Brighton purchased the business from founder Nathan Hancock. Under their leadership, the company continued to grow—expanding service offerings, upgrading equipment, and maintaining a strong reputation for customer care and technical excellence.
A new chapter began in 2021, when the company was acquired by a new ownership group with deep experience with management and marketing, with the goal of company growth and area expansion. In 2022, those same owners acquired Thomas Drilling—a respected pump and drilling operation with roots going back to 1977. The two operations were combined under one name: American Pump & Drilling.
Today, the company operates with a robust team and full in-house capabilities, including a dedicated Motor Shop for AC motor rewinds, a full-service machine shop, and a fleet of specialized pump rigs for deep well and high-volume installations. Most work is performed in-house, with minimal outsourcing, allowing for faster turnaround times, greater quality control, and better results for our customers.
